Dear Berlin Center and LeValley Church Family,

Have you ever had a though and later on you remembered that God has brought that thought into existence?  Have you ever made a comment to someone about something you think you should do and all of a sudden that thing you were thinking about doing is a real possibility?  I believe that sometimes our toughts and even our desires can be a part of God's plan for our life.  Maybe it was God that placed that desire or thought in your mind to cause you to even think about the subject in the first place?

A number of years ago Jason, my oldest son and I had talked about taking a trip together someplace.  Years later it worked out for us to take a trip of a lifetime together to Jordan and Israel with some other wonderful people from our parish this past year.  The whole time we were on the trip I knew that God had worked it out for us in every detail.  The same was true of my first trip to Israel with Jennifer with another group of wonderful Christians from our Kewadin and Elk Rapids parish.

Just recently I have been thinking about the coming major league baseball season.  I thought it would be nice to play catch with my sons this summer.  I have not thrown a ball in sometime and don't know how well I would even do throwing and catching a baseball.  I sent off a personal private note to my youngest son about playing catch with him sometime this summer but did not get a response back as of today.  It's a bit new age in thinking, but one of my favorite baseball movies of all time is The Field of Dreams starring Kevin Costner and James Earl Jones.  The simple game of catch between father and son is a key in the entire plot of the movie.

The Bible says in Psalm 37:4-5, Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.  NKJV.

I finally have a Saturday off coming up the first weekend of April.  You can imagine my delight when my middle son, Jordan, invited me to play a game of catch with him at noon on April 2nd at the old Tiger field in Detroit that is about to be destroyed.  We might even get to play in a baseball game that day as well.

Ever since I was a kid going to Tiger games with my dad or listening to games on the radio, I have wanted to play ball on that Tiger stadium grass.  After all Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Hank Greenburg, Ted Williams, Mickey Lolich, Denny McLain, Al Kaline, Willie Horton, Jackie Robinson, Brooks Robinson, Frank Robison, and many more baseball legends played on that field of my youthful dreams.  I didn't even know my dream could be made possible since the stadium was torn down?  God still works in our lives even well past my baseball prime to make our desires come true.  Lord willing I plan to play catch with one or two of my sons on baseball's sacred ground on my day off the first Saturday of April.

Thank you God and thank you Jordan for inviting me to play catch with you on my field of dreams.

Playball and God Bless,

Pastor Ray
