Operation Christmas Child Shoebox
Chairperson's: Rex and Karen Wambaugh

Rex and Karen Wambaugh head up the mission project "Operation Christmas Child Shoebox.

Here is a message from them in regards to "Operation Christmas Child Shoebox - December 2013":

THANK YOU AND UPDATE

We want to thank everyone who prayed for, bought items for, packed a box with your family, came to the packing party and packed boxes, or made a financial contribution for any of the shoe boxes prepared by either LeValley or Berlin Center Churches.  We also thank GOD for the way he touched you to help with the relay Center in so many diffrent ways.  Because of your efforts, LeValley and Berlin Center Churches packed a total of 403 shoe boxes.  Our Relay Center collected 2,351 boxes and the Grand Rapids, Michigan Collection Center collected the most it has every collected with 25,242 boxes.  Every box is an opportunity to share the Gospel with a child who would otherwise not get a chance to hear about Jesus.  What a Christmas present!! Thank each of you so much.

While working at the Processing Center in boone, N.C. this year we heard this story about a child who received a box.  It explains better than we can why all of us pack shoe boxes for children.

"In the African county of Tanzania, a small boy by the name of Frankie came to a shoe box distribution.  When the leader asked him what he would like to see in his box, Frankie said he would like to see "a blue dress shirt, with buttons all down the front and a big collar all around."  The leader, knowing the typical items that are usually in a shoe box and not wanting the boy to be disappointed began to explain to Frankie what he might expect in the box.  Suddently the leader heard a thought in his head that said simply, "be quiet", so he changed the subject and proceeded with the distrubtion of boxes.  The children each came up and received a box as the cartons were opened and 600 boxes were randomly passed out.   As the leader walked through the children as they opened their boxes he felt a pull on his shirt sleeve.  Looking down he saw Frankie so he asked him what he had in his box.  Frankie opened his box and there on the top was a new blue dress shirt, with buttons all down the front and a big collar all around.  And it was in his size.  THAT'S OUR GOD!! May you personally experience HIM this Christmas.
