Dear Berlin Center and LeValley Church Family,

It's just a short time before I will be on a tour of Jordan and Israel with a wonderful group of Christians from our parish and other churches around the country.  Pastor Von Dop of the First United Methodist Church downtown Ionia will be on call for me while I am gone.  We will be gone from October 19th through October 29th and hope that you will keep us in your prayers during this time for a fresh encounter with the Lord and for safety.

I consider it a great joy to be able for a second time in my life to walk in the footsteps of Jesus.  I have offered this trip to our parish and others so that we can experience in person what many call the Fifth Gospel.  The Fifth Gospel is the land of the Bible.  I also pray that our journey will be one that draws us all closer to our Lord and Savior.  It is more than a tour for me it is a spiritual journey.  The Bible says, in James 4:8 a, Come close to God, and God will come close to you.

Dipping my toes in the Sea of Galilee and taking a boat on the same waters that Jesus calmed with a word and walked upon, does wonders for my soul.  Who knows maybe someone on our bus would lilke to be baptized in the river Jordan?  Praying in the Garden of Gethesmane was a big highlight for me the last time I went, and this time I plan on praying for our parish along with some other things when we are there.  Do you have a prayer need you would like me to take and place in the wailing wall?  If so, write it on a very small slip of paper and I would be glad to place it there and pray over that need while there.

I have no doubt that the Lord is in the details of this trip.  I want to thank Educational Opportunities for all the details they have worked out for this trip to take place.

I also want to thank all of those that have signed up to take this trip with me.  I hope that we will be able to post some pictures on our church website so you can follow our journey online and keep us in your prayers.

Many years ago as a young boy, I remember Rev. Russ Nachtrieb sharing slides of his trip to Israel.  It was a potluck dinner at Aldergate Methodist Church and he shared with great enthusisam and spiritual joy the positives of being in the land of Jesus.  Little did I know that years later I would have the great privilege of taking others to Israel on similar tours!

Lord willing on Sunday, November 1, a day we fall back on the time one hour and share communion together, I hope to share about some of our experiences in the land of Jesus.

In His Grip,

Pastor Ray Sundell
