God is with us - God has good plans for us - God gives us his peace

Dear Berlin Center and LeValley UMC Church Family,

As I write this letter to you, I am thinking about graduation at this moment.  We have a number of students that are graduating from various high schools or universities.   The students are making plans to move on with life in a new direction.  Some students will end up going on to college, some to the military or vocational training and some will enter the job market.  Whatever the direction a christian decides to travel or what life bridge you are crossing at this moment there are some key passages in Scripture that we need to guide our journey in life.

Scripture Promise One:  God is with us.  John 14:15-21 Jesus said,

15 "If you love me, obey my commandments.  16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.  17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth.  The world cannot receive him, because it isn't looking for him and doesn't recognize him.  But you know him, because He lives with you now and later will be in you.  18 No, I will not abandon you as orphans-I will come to you.  19 Soon the world will no longer see me, but you will see me.   Since I live, you also will live.  20 When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.  21  Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me.  And because they love me, my Father will love them.  And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them."  HBNLT

Scripture Promiste Two:  God has good plans for us. Jerimiah 29:11-14

11 For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord.   "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. 12 In those days when you pray, I will listen.  13  If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.  HBNLT

Promise Three:  God gives us his peace.  Jesus said, in John 14:25-28

25 "These things I have spoken to you while being present with you.  26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.  27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. NKJV

Let's recap the three promises which we need to stand upon in our faith journey no matter what situation we find ourselves in or crossroads we face.  God takes our hand like a heavenly parent as we cross the difficult roads in life.  He promises to be with us.  God promises a future and one of hope.  Finally, Jesus gives us His peace so we don't need to be troubled or afraid.

God Bless,

Pastor Ray
